I know I have not posted anything in a while. Been taking a sabbatical from the internet while contemplating changing service providers.
Here's a great song from my youth. There where many times this song was played at full volume while flying down the highway in an '85 Ballad to get drunk at the seediest bar we could find in town. Eyes so red they shooting lazes, heart racing from the thrills of anything we could get our hands on to bend our minds.
The trick was to meet people as messed up as we where so that we can blend in.
Here are the lyrics in no particular order:
People won't be people When they hear this sound
That's been glowing in the dark at the edge of town
People won't be people
No, the people won't be people when they hear this sound
Won't you show me what begins at the edge of town
Singer is a crook,
whoa, ey, oh
Singer is a crook,
whoa, ey, oh
Singer is a crook,
whoa, ey, oh
Singer is a crook,
whoa, ey, oh
Kitchen is the cook,
whoa, ey, oh
Scissors are the barbers,
whoa, ey, oh
Singer is a crook,
whoa, ey, oh
The chorus full of actors
There is a music video of the song, but it's only about 4 minutes long... so fuck that shit.

Chop Suey by System of a Down
This morning, for no reason apparent to me, the Christmas angel I had on the mantle decided to swan dive into the ground below. Smashing her porcelain face into a hundred different pieces.
It was a heartbreaking moment as this was by far the nicest Christmas decoration we owned.
"I cry when angels deserve to die."
On that note, check out this little blog on suicide.

Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa
So Kerry Contrary wrote
a little sorting hat blog thing which again, gave the Hufflepuff house some
flack.
Personally (I don’t know why I am taking this shit personally), I feel that it is about time something is said about this.
Fortunately for me, Wiz Khalifa already has. Check out this song…
If you don’t
get it, you're fucking handicapable.
The first two verses and all of the “Black
and Yellow” lines are obviously referring to the house colors, black and
yellow. This is a representation of the badger on the gold field for the house
sigil.
In the third
verse we have the lines “Everything I do,
I do it big.” And “screamin' that's
nothin' When I pulled off the lot, that's stuntin'” This is a testament to the Hard working and
“Unafraid of Toil” traits of house Hufflepuff.
In eight, we
hear “Hear them haters talk But there's
nothing you can tell 'em Just made a million Got another million on my
schedule” referring to Huffelpuff’s tolerance, hard work and patience.
The lines “She wanna fuck with them cats, smoke weed,
count stacks Get fly, take trips and that's that,” is referring to the relationship
between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.
There are many more examples in this song, but I have shit to do today. So give it a listen. Read the Harry Potter books and figure it out.

No Rain by Blind Melon
Recently I have befriended (not really Twitter does not count) more people in the writing world. Readers and Writers amongst few.
So sticking to the Post Grunge vibe and the fact I am a total Hippy check out Blind Melon. I only know this album, but it meets my need for Blues, Grundge and LSD all in one...
Also, how do you feel about Bee Girl?

Punkrocker by Teddybears
As a punkrocker myself, I must say I love this song.
Iggy is a god. The song has some good synth sounds and well all in all a good track...
I just wish it was a bit longer to be honest. As much as I love anything in B-minor and no more than 3 minutes long... I need at least an extra 30 seconds.
Also check out Thomas Rusiak's version "Hiphopper"

My Guru by Kalyanji Ananji
So Kalyanji Ananji has been around since the 70's
My Guru was used in a Movie called Bombay The Hard Way: Guns, Cars & Sitars back in 1998 then later in 2000 in a Jack Johnson and Chris Malloy movie Thicker Than Water.
I have known this track for 11 years now and it is still a favorite. So here you go.

Pirate Jenny, Song for the day.
Pirate Jenny is a great little number. Was always a fan of the Nina Simone version until I discovered a Dresden Dolls version.

Supergirl by Springbok Nude Girls
Well here is a blast form the past.
I have a serious Love Hate relationship with Arno Carstens. I always thought he looked like a bit of a toolbag. But I don't like to label people just on how they look or act.
Met him once. He was a bit of a toolbag, but I didn't get to know him so maybe I just have a really strong perception which may or may not be wrong.
I love all his music though. I am a huge Springbok Nude Girls fan. Nothing beats some good psychedelic rock.
Arno Carstens' solo shit is pretty awesome too, excpecially for Sunday chill vibes or music you can listen to in the car while driving your mom around.

Someone gets fucked over.
Today's special double feature Song for the Day is two songs I often associate with each other.
Most likely because I am extremely tone deaf and the combinations of deep man voice and lovely lady voice just sounds nice.
Both these songs share a similar theme. Boy and girl meet. There is a hint of love found. They go somewhere romantic. Someone gets fucked over.
How can you not love that.

I Like Giants by Kimya Dawson
When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side
Of the road, turn out the lights, get out and look up at the sky
And I do this to remind me that I'm really, really tiny
In the grand scheme of things and sometimes this terrifies me
But it's only really scary cause it makes me feel serene
In a way I never thought I'd be because I've never been
So grounded, and so humbled, and so one with everything
I am grounded, I am humbled, I am one with everything
Rock and roll is fun but if you ever hear someone
Say you are huge, look at the moon, look at the stars, look at the sun
Look at the ocean and the desert and the mountains and the sky
Say I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye
I am just a speck of dust inside a giant's eye

Citizens of Tomorrow by Tokyo Police Club
A few years ago I got this email from Kerry.
It has been 4 and a half years later and I still find myself listening to Tokyo Police Club often. Give there stuff a listen to. It's calculated. At some point you will find yourself tapping your foot or breaking out in out in a lyric.

My Step by Little Dragon
So here is another little bit of electro (Indie Rock) by a band called Little Dragon.
I must admit I do not know their music well, but this is one of my favorite 3am songs.
They played in my home town on the 31st of August, but due to work. I had to miss it.
Also, I love puppets.

Seven Deadly Sins by Flogging Molly
Okay, seriously, Flogging Molly!
This band quickly worked it's way into my top 10 favorite bands.
I can't remember exactly how I got into Flogging Molly, but it was very much a "Hey O'Neil, you're a pirate. Listen to this." sort of thing. And being a pirate anything that sounds a bit like a sea-shanty is a win in my books.
The first music I got was from the album Swagger, and WOW, what a great album. A good mix of anthems and party songs such as Salty Dog, Selfish Man, The Worst Day Since Yesterday, Every Dog Has Its Day, Life in a Tenement Square, Black Friday Rule, Devil's Dance Floor, These Exiled Years and Sentimental Johnny.
Okay, okay. I pretty much listed the entire album, but it really is that great.
For a "Get Up and Start Dancing!" example.

Do It With a Rockstar by Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra
As a music lover, I love meeting people that are huge fans of bands or artists that I like. because they can usually introduce me to more more.
I recently made a new friend, with whom I shared a little more than just a huge love for Amanda Palmer.
I have been called an enabler by a few people in my life. They have always said it like it was a bad thing. Personally I believe that you only have about 75 year to live your life as you. Before you body is given back to the universe and a piece of useless matter. And your consciousness or "soul" is gone. Forever.
Live life to its fullest. You never know when you draw your last breath.

Shattered Pieces by Otep
I tried to post this via my phone a while ago. But did not work so here it is.
Deep down inside I am just and angsty teenage girl.
And this is how the world died [x2]
I can hear you judging me
I'll hear your confession
I found the best piece of me
Kneel down
Alone
Shivering in the dark
Three centimeters tall
And talk to god
Eating it's heart
But you will not feast on me today
This is how the world died
Who will slay this thing
I forgive you
Who will play the butcher and
End my suffering
I forgive you
I fucked the minds of the masses with the fingers of liberty
This is not a threat
This is not
A threat
I'm not perfect
I'm not a beauty queen I'm just me
I'm just me
We are all
Prisoners here
All shapes and sizes
I've screamed for all the women I've never been but hoped I would be
I'm proud of who I am
Forever
Chasing the sun
I'm proud of me
She bites her trembling mind
It began as all tragedies do
Forgive me [x2]
With pain and deception
If you'll be the paper I'll be the pen
This is it
I've tasted hell
And it tastes just like you
My final plea
No one is coming to save me
No one is going to change things
The answers will not drop from the sky
I will not one day wake with a different disguise
No
The only solution
Is revolution
Art is war
Fight [x2]
The odds were always against me
Lose weight
Clearly think
I exist I am broken [x2]
If god is my father
Then I am an orphan
I am broken
I am not a mistake [x2]
My ancestry is a ghost story
I'm a prophecy
My love life is a crime scene
I'm an omen
My self-esteem is a string of unsolved murders
The radio is brainwashing me filling my head with these
Self conspiracies
I am an emotional nightmare
I can't hide the pain inside
Builder of my own mythology
Just tell me
You're listening

So, I'm having internet issues at home and no usable webs at the office.
The bad news is no songs till i figure it out. The good news is i can blog from my phone.
So you get to read what my text messages look like. This will be great, as I am biligual, i spell things phonetically. And i have fat thumbs with a tiny keypad, i and o is the same thing. A and s are inter changable and a space is quiet often a n.
So sit back, roll a smoke, listen to SpaceLounge Radio on Live365. The next few days will be silly.
Love you all.

Gunja Smuggling by Eek-a-Mouse
Eek-a-Mouse is great.
I got turned onto Reggae by my dad. Which may be a little odd, as his favorite band for the last 10 years has been Rammstein.
Anyhoo, the first song that made me take note of Eek-a-Mouse was Christmas A Come, it just had something.
I got a clip of this Gunja Smuggling as my ringtone, the "Bang bang biddy bong bong..." part. it works really well.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sugur Ros
Sigur Ros is a band I discovered by accident.
At a time, I was very much into bands such as Rage Against the Machine and The Deftones, I was walking around a record store looking for something a little darker. Never really been into heavy, but have always been fond of dark, when I saw this;
A flat black cover with a pale blue drawing of an angle fetus. I knew straight away I needed this in my playlist.
Being a music lover, I know that if you like the cover, give it a listen to. You might actually enjoy the music.
This philosophy could not ever have been more true when it came to "Sugar Ros". It was hauntingly beautiful. Like nothing I have heard before.
I could not afford to buy the album at the time, but went straight home to listen to anything I could find on My Space.
Within about 2 years they reached some form of international fame, which meant some friends where listening to their music too.
Here is one of their songs. They have many I would like to play for you. But you can find out more about Sigur Ros here.

Handlebars by The Flobots
When I first hear my girlfriend and her little brother singing this song to each other, I though it was some kind of nursery rhyme.
"I can ride my bike with no handle bars, no handlebars, no handlebars."
It was only once listen to it, I realise this song is a lot more than that. The Flobots are great, and Handlebars is awesome. It had a good beat, picks up with a bit or brass (which I am always a fan of) and some good old edgy guitar.

Broken Boy Soldier by The Raconteurs
Yet another one of those anthems.
Jack White has some great stuff out there.
Jack White has some great stuff out there.
Unitled and imcomplete. When it is a state of being.
The biggest problem i have with emotions is that they do not follow our laws of time. Moments of joy, happiness and all those other good feelings wisp past leaving only memories. The icky feelings, those of anger, melancholy, jealousy and remorse tend to drag out. Entire lifetimes are spent in the dreadful space. The thing is, in these long, hard periods we learn the most about about who we are, what our limits are and how we can overcome the obstacle that hinder our growth.

For those of you that listen to electronic music, you should know who Steve Aoki is. For those that don't he is pretty much Electro Jesus.

I live the visuals in this video. Clowns and trippy shit.

Did this while bored at work on Thursday. Had to stop because was getting that hunger...

it's just nice to watch.
It's nice to eat out
That was something beautiful.
