Evil Hearted You by The Yardbirds

Yet another one of those songs where it just sits in my head for days.

I can't help but think of falling in love with some sexy Bond villain.

Drugs by Thingy

Stumbled upon this band earlier this year. And I must say, I fucking love them! There is something about the harmonies and the haunting subject matter just makes me want to listen to their songs over and over again.

And I don’t even know what to say,
’cept that maybe it shouldn't be important.
And I don’t even know its name.
If it were a dog I’d call him Rover
Oh, oh, oh
And then something should go right there
There’s something ’bout being an alcoholic
And the skyrocketing price of beer
I wish I could do drugs.
(That man is real, not made of steel)

Also, give a listen to Heavy Vegetables, a slightly earlier band with very close affiliation to Thingy, a little more upbeat.

Not A Crime by Gogol Bordello

So not too long ago, gypsies where the tits. You would be rather fashionable if you where into into anything Gypsy related. You know, 'cause you're underground and stuff.

One of the bands that has been spearheading this movement since the 90's (1999 still counts) is Gogol Bordello.

I believe this band to be the the front line of humanity's battle against it's self. What do I mean... well I'm not to sure, but let me break it down.

1. Gogol Bordello is made up of a number of multinationals. Ukrainian, Russian, Chinese, Scottish, Ethiopian, Ecuadorian, French, German, Norwegian, Israili, Romanian, English and American band members have all played together, toured together and pretty much just got along.

2. They fight for human right. Don't just hear the songs, listen to them. In-between the dirty raw noise and nonsense is a message. Equality, freedom and love is common in a few of there songs.

C. They are an excellent example of the human spirit, something we has a living species either neglect or abuse. Fuck people, life is short. shorter than you think. And before you know it you body can't keep up with your mind or the mind fails and you fucked. Enjoy and love everything. Because it will be gone soon.

Enough chitchat here is the song

The Cigarette Duet by Princess Chelsea

Okay, so I was going to post "Everybody's Girl" by the Dwarves, but could not find am appropriate video. Then I was going to do "My Girlfriend's Dead" by The Vandals, but the music video takes to much away from the song. "Eat the Meek" by NoFx was another choice, but I could not decide if I wanted the awesome Dub mix or the original... Then I found this... Awesomeness.... Please excuse me while I stalk my new princess.

I Have Your Heart

Okay, So 3 not so well known heroes in the art world came together to make this video.

Jim Batt a film maker and photographer, Molly Crabapple an artist and Kim Boekbinder a musician collaborated to make this absolute gem.

For a little more Jim Batt take a look at "Want it Back" it also has a heart theme that follows this video nicely.
And to round off, here is some Crabapple.

Animal by Karen O and the Kids

Karen O is the vocalist for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, a pretty sweet Indie band from New York.

She did the sound track for the movie Where the Wild Things Are, based on the book by Maurice Senda (based on his scary aunts and uncles if I an not mistaken).

The movie looked good, the sound track was epic.

I love the energy of this track. All the shouts and hoots, makes me want to spin around the room as if I was on fire.

The lyrics are simple. "Hold me animal." repeated a few times.

Crucify Your Mind by Rodriguez

Being South African, I grew up with the Cold Fact in my home. And as I got older and a little bit more anti-establishment, listening to the two great Bobs, Tracey Chapman, Hendrix and such, That album with the Mexican on the cover was a favorite.

I knew he had not seen "success" in the States, but I assumed he was still well known as an artist and just toured the States. Turn out I was way Wrong.

Check out the Documentary Searching for Sugarman. It has been Nominated for an Oscar and a BAFTA, so you know it is good.

Rodriguez is playing in South Africa in June, But Tickets sold out in December already.
